For this exercise, I need to choose a famous person I want to caricature.
I had a look on IMDb under a list called ‘Top 1000 Actors and Actresses’ as I couldn’t decide on someone straight away. I listed a few people with interesting faces first and then narrowed down my list to a few, finally landing on my chosen person.
My list:
- Joaquin Pheonix
- Rooney Mara
- Audrey Hepburn
- Will Smith
- Nicolas Cage
- Lucy Liu
- Christoph Waltz
- Jim Carrey
- Sylvester Stallone
My chosen person: Larry David
Firstly I need to find some photographs of them that have as much detail as possible and that show them from different angles.

Now working from my photo reference, I need to make a drawing of them as a whole-body portrait, attracting attention to their particular or notable facial and physical features or aspects of their personality.

Evaluation:
Overall I am quite happy with how this one turned out. Larry David is one of my favourite comedians, I especially like his show ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. I decided to draw Larry this way to show how lanky and tall he is, I also wanted to show his glasses, hair, and clothing choice. He is quite well known for his ‘Boring-Dad Look’ and this is shown also in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ where he plays himself as his character ‘Larry’ where he wears his long sleeve t-shirts, cardigan, tan trousers, and Simple’s OS skate sneakers. He tends to also carry himself with his posture ‘head forward’.
