Part 1: Developing Your Drawing

Exercise: Draw, draw, and draw again:

For this exercise, I will pick a photo to draw from, I then need to draw it again but quicker – only picking out the most important elements in the image and leaving out the information that is less important. Next, I will draw it again, this time from memory and with reference to my other drawings. Finally, I will draw it again, this time with no reference material at all.

I found this exercise quite hard at the start as I wanted to choose an interesting image but struggled to find one so I looked on Google for an obscure image to draw from and I found this. I found the angles quite hard to draw but I think the bird came out well, I think the strangest outcome was that when I drew from memory the outcome was better than any of the others, I think my drawing is better when I just draw without looking at references?
